Arte y arquitectura se abrazan de la mano de Paloma Ferrari y María Manero

La conocida artista afincada en Sotogrande y la gerente del estudio MM Atelier inician una colaboración uniendo sus disciplinas tanto para proyectos de reforma e interiorismo como también para creaciones artísticas

A Paloma Ferrari y a María Manero les une la creatividad, la inspiración y la pasión por su trabajo, cada una en disciplinas tan diferentes como la arquitectura y la pintura. Partiendo de esos denominadores comunes, ambas se han lanzado a unir sus respectivas vocaciones y trabajar juntas, estableciendo una colaboración que va a derivar, tal y como ellas nos comentan, en un sinfín de posibilidades.

De esta forma, tanto la artista como la arquitecta se han propuesto demostrar lo mucho que une a mundos tan diferentes a priori pero realmente con muchos lazos en común. No en vano, la propia arquitectura que tan bien domina María está considerada una de las artes plásticas clásicas junto a la pintura, el dibujo o la escultura que podemos encontrar en la amplia y variada obra de Paloma Ferrari.

Por lo pronto, de esta simbiosis parten ya dos caminos diferentes que entran d lleno en el ámbito de actuación de cada una de ellas. “Dentro de los proyectos de reforma que le llegan a María también le piden que decore las casas. Y ahí entro yo como artista”, nos explica Paloma Ferrari. “Sabemos trabajar juntas muy bien y nos podemos adaptar a cualquier gusto que tenga el cliente. Al final, nuestro objetivo es crear sueños, hacer realidad todo lo que el cliente desee para su casa”.

“Hay mucha conexión entre nosotras”, apunta María Manero, “y esta colaboración aporta una dimensión totalmente nueva a los proyectos de reforma e interiorismo que llegan a mi estudio y en los que ella participa”.

Pero aparte de ese valor añadido que supone esa perspectiva artística a la actividad de María Manero desde MM Atelier, su colaboración con Paloma Ferrari también está permitiendo que la arquitecta entre de lleno en el mundo de la creación propia como nueva artista.

“El dibujo es una herramienta de trabajo imprescindible para el arquitecto”, nos explica María. Yo diseño edificios y me encanta, porque también hay espacio para la creatividad, pero además sentía la necesidad de ‘soltar la mano’. Añadir más color y más libertad a lo que ya hacía en mi trabajo”.

De hecho, María comenzó a asistir a clases de pintura con Paloma Ferrari, donde ambas descubrieron la clave de la exitosa colaboración que ambas han terminado estableciendo, ya que cada una de ellas admira el trabajo de la otra. “María mostraba esa inquietud artística y yo, por mi parte, soy una enamorada de la arquitectura, que sin duda es una de mis profesiones frustradas”, nos comenta Paloma Ferrari.

De ahí surgió la idea de, al igual que Paloma colabora en los proyectos de reformas de María, ambas también se han lanzado a crear obras de arte de forma conjunta, aunque manteniendo la arquitectura como referencia e inspiración en muchas de ellas.

“Hemos querido introducir la arquitectura en cada cuadro, con elementos propios de ella como la geometría, la tridimensionalidad y la mezcla de diferentes materiales pero en la pintura. Serán cuadros diferentes a lo que se suele ver en Sotogrande”, asegura María. “María traza las figuras y comenzamos a trabajar sobre esa base”, añade Paloma, “Estamos creando Pintu-Escultura, porque conseguimos sacar tres dimensiones de cada cuadro gracias al propio material que utilizamos. Es arte de Alta Costura”

“Los cuadros tridimensionales están muy basados en grandes nombres de la arquitectura que nos encantan como Zaha Hadid o Alvar Aalto. Por eso he intentado llevar materiales propios de una maqueta arquitectónica a los cuadros y mezclar constantemente ambas disciplinas”, añade la propietaria de MM Atelier.

Muy pronto, todo Sotogrande podrá comprobar los primeros frutos de esta colaboración. María Manero y Paloma Ferrari están preparando una exposición conjunta para este verano, que permanecerá en el Local de Payma en La Marina desde el 30 de junio hasta el 31 de agosto, abierta para todos los públicos.

“En la exposición destacarán cuatro grandes cuadros sobre lino que estamos convencidas de que impactarán a los visitantes. También tenemos ya preparados cuadros más pequeños y variados sobre papeles de colores, con diferentes formas y colores, que son ideales para regalo”, afirma Paloma Ferrari. “Queremos que la exposición se mantenga abierta durante todo el verano en un local de La Marina de Sotogrande, y estamos muy ilusionadas”.

De esta forma, mientras María y Paloma ya están acometiendo sus primeros proyectos de arquitectura e interiorismo desde el estudio de MM Atelier, también se afanan en concretar esta exposición con la que mostrarán públicamente el resultado de este abrazo entre arte y arquitectura, que aportará una nueva actividad a la oferta cultural del próximo verano en Sotogrande.

Art and architecture come together through Paloma Ferrari and María Manero

The well-known Sotogrande-established artist and the manager of the studio MM Atelier start a collaboration in which they combine their respective artistic disciplines for refurbishment and interior design projects and artistic creations.

Paloma Ferrari and María Manero share creativity, inspiration, and passion for their work, each in disciplines as different as architecture and painting. Based on these common denominators, both have decided to join their respective vocations and work together, establishing a collaboration that will lead, as they have told us, to endless possibilities.

By doing so, both the artist and the architect have set out to demonstrate just how closely such apparently different worlds are linked. It is not in vain that architecture itself, which María masters so well, is considered one of the classic visual arts alongside painting, drawing and sculpture, which can be found in Paloma Ferrari’s wide and varied oeuvre.

For the time being, this symbiosis has already given rise to two different paths that fall squarely within the sphere of action of each of them. «Within the renovation projects that María receives, she is also asked to decorate houses. That’s where I come in as an artist», Paloma Ferrari explained. «We know how to work together extremely well, and we can adapt to whatever the client’s taste may be. In the end, our aim is to create dreams, to make whatever the client wants for their home a reality».

«There is a great connection between us», María Manero remarks, «and this collaboration brings a whole new dimension to the refurbishment and interior design projects that come to my studio and in which she participates».

But apart from the added value that this artistic perspective brings to María Manero’s activity at MM Atelier, her collaboration with Paloma Ferrari is also allowing the architect to enter fully into the creative world as a new artist.

«Drawing is an essential working tool for the architect», explains María. I design buildings and I love it, because there is also room for creativity, but I also felt the need to ‘loosen my hand’. To add more colour and more freedom to what I was already doing with my work.

In fact, Maria started attending painting classes with Paloma Ferrari, where they both discovered the key to the successful collaboration they have ultimately established, as each admires the other’s work. «María showed her artistic restlessness and I, in turn, am in love with architecture, which is undoubtedly one of my thwarted professions», Paloma Ferrari tells us.

Hence the idea arose, just as Paloma collaborates in María’s renovation projects, both have also embarked on creating artworks together, although maintaining architecture as a reference and inspiration in many of them.

«We wanted to introduce architecture into each painting, with its own elements such as geometry, three-dimensionality and the mixture of different materials within the painting. They will be different to what you usually see here in Sotogrande,» says María. «María traces the figures, and we start working on that basis,» adds Paloma, «We are creating Pintu-Sculpture, because we are able to get three dimensions out of each painting through the very material we use. It is Haute Couture art».

«The three-dimensional paintings are very much based on the great architectural names that we love like Zaha Hadid or Alvar Aalto. That’s why I’ve tried to bring materials from an architectural model into the paintings themselves and keep on mixing both of these disciplines,» adds the owner of MM Atelier.

Very soon, everyone in Sotogrande will be able to see the first results of this collaboration. María Manero and Paloma Ferrari are preparing a joint exhibition for this summer, at Payma store in La Marina from June 30 to August 31, open to all audiences.

«The exhibition will feature four large paintings over linen that we are convinced will strike a chord with visitors. We have also already prepared smaller and more varied paintings onto coloured paper, with different shapes and colours, which are ideal for gift-giving», states Paloma Ferrari. «We want the exhibition to remain open throughout the summer, in a room in La Marina de Sotogrande, and we are very excited».

Thus, while María and Paloma are already undertaking their first architecture and interior design projects from the MM Atelier studio, they are also working hard on the realisation of this exhibition with which they will publicly show the result of this embrace between art and architecture. This will provide a new cultural activity for the coming summer in Sotogrande.
