Hoy no es un día cualquiera, es un día en el que vengo a recordarles la importancia de hacer valer el derecho al voto. Y no hablo de elecciones municipales, autonómicas o generales, hablo ahora de una que son fundamentales para casi 1000 socios: La Cañada Golf.

No vengo aquí a decirles qué deben votar. Son ustedes, los socios y socias, los que deben estudiar cada proyecto presentado por cada una de las candidaturas que optan a la presidencia del club y depositar su voto consecuentemente el próximo viernes 17 de Abril en La Cañada.

Decidan ustedes, es el tiempo de elegir que club queremos tener en los próximos años. ¿Dónde quieren que esté La Cañada dentro de 20 años? Elijan su mejor opción y depositen su voto eligiendo cualquier lista que más se adecúe a su idea de futuro de club. Pero acudan a votar. Es su derecho y un claro ejemplo de implicación en el futuro de una institución que se fundó en 1982 y que es un referente de integración intergeneracional de nuestra zona.

Tenemos un club que aúna tradición e historia, del que debemos elegir nuestro presente y nuestro futuro. Porvenir cargado de ilusión, con muchos proyectos por hacer y volver a ser un referente deportivo a nivel nacional e internacional. Tenemos una masa social que se jacta de tener un club ideado por los mejores diseñadores internacionales: Robert T. Jones Sr y Dave Thomas. Una auténtica joya que debemos seguir cuidando y haciéndola crecer para ir hasta el infinito y más allá como diría Buzz Lightyear.

El 17 de abril no se trata solo de elegir una junta directiva. Se trata de decidir qué modelo de club queremos para los próximos años: qué prioridades debe tener, cómo afrontar los retos que puedan surgir y qué tipo de ambiente deseamos mantener en nuestras instalaciones.

Es hora de volver a unirse, de demostrarnos que juntos somos más fuertes y que el mejor futuro es el que se escribe con las letras del pasado y del presente, valorando el esfuerzo que todos y todas hicimos e hicieron por llegar al punto en el que nos encontramos.

Por todo ello, es fundamental que los socios del Club de Golf La Cañada reserven unos minutos de su tiempo para acudir a las urnas. La participación no sólo legitima el resultado electoral, sino que también fortalece la identidad y el espíritu de comunidad que han caracterizado históricamente al club.

Un club fuerte y unido comienza con socios comprometidos. Y uno de los gestos más sencillos —y a la vez más importantes— para demostrar ese compromiso es, simplemente, acudir a votar.

Cada golpe cuenta, cada voto también.

April 17th: A celebration of democratic freedom at La Cañada

Today is no ordinary day. I am here to remind you of the profound importance of exercising your right to vote. I am not referring to local, regional, or general elections; I am speaking about a vote that is fundamental to nearly 1,000 members: La Cañada Golf.

I am not here to tell you how to vote. It is up to you, the members, to study the proposals presented by each candidate vying for the club’s presidency and to cast your ballot accordingly this coming Friday, April 17th, at La Cañada.

The decision is yours. It is time to choose the kind of club we want for the years to come. Where do you want La Cañada to be in 20 years? Choose your best option and cast your vote for the ticket that best aligns with your vision for the club’s future. But above all, please show up. It is your right, and a clear example of your commitment to the future of an institution founded in 1982—a benchmark for intergenerational community in our region.

We have a club that seamlessly blends tradition and history, and it is from that foundation that we must choose our present and our future. We look toward a future filled with excitement, with numerous projects on the horizon aimed at reclaiming our status as a sporting powerhouse on both a national and international level. Our membership takes pride in a club designed by world-renowned architects Robert T. Jones Sr. and Dave Thomas. It is a true gem that we must continue to cherish and grow—to infinity and beyond, as Buzz Lightyear would say.

April 17th is about more than just electing a board of directors. It is about deciding on the very model of the club we want for the coming years: what our priorities should be, how we will face emerging challenges, and the kind of atmosphere we wish to maintain within our facilities.

It is time to come together once again, to prove that we are stronger as one, and that the best future is written with the ink of our past and present—valuing the collective effort that has brought us to where we stand today.

For all these reasons, it is vital that the members of La Cañada Golf Club set aside a few minutes to head to the polls. Participation does more than just legitimize the election results; it strengthens the identity and the community spirit that have historically defined this club.

A strong, united club begins with engaged members. And one of the simplest—yet most significant—gestures to demonstrate that commitment is, quite simply, to show up and vote.

Every stroke counts; every vote does, too.
