El reconocido pintor y escultor argentino afincado en Sotogrande abrirá su estudio de Pueblo Nuevo durante este verano a la libre expresión de diferentes artistas, en un evento multidisciplinar cara al público que nace con vocación de continuidad
Hay artistas que deciden, o incluso necesitan, aislarse del mundo que los rodea, dedicados únicamente a su propia creación artística sin tener en cuenta nada más allá. En el otro extremo se ubican los artistas que, además de desarrollar su labor fruto de su propia inspiración, también ejercen de promotores e impulsores del arte, queriendo expandir la actividad artística allá por donde no se encuentre con asiduidad. Estos auténticos ‘militantes del arte’ no sólo se dedican a sí mismos, sino que también apoyan directamente a otros compañeros artistas para que puedan seguir desarrollando sus carreras.
En este tipo de ‘activismo artístico’ podríamos encuadrar perfectamente a Osvaldo Lobalzo, un reconocido y polifacético artista argentino que ya lleva años promoviendo la actividad cultural en la zona de Sotogrande, dando cabida además a numerosos artistas que han podido presentar su obra en la zona gracias a él.
Este verano, el inquieto binomio que forman Osvaldo y su mujer Maite, dan otro paso más dentro de esta voluntad de promover la actividad artística en muy diversas formas. Para ello ya están preparando ‘Osvaldo Lobalzo & friends’, un encuentro multidisciplinar que se desarrollará durante un mes en el taller de Osvaldo, ubicado en Pueblo Nuevo.
De esta forma, su propio taller, la verdadera casa de un artista, se abrirá a la exposición y al encuentro de más de 30 creadores invitados a este evento desde el 30 de junio hasta el 28 de julio.
“El objetivo es el de reunir en nuestro taller a artistas de diferentes disciplinas que nos han acompañado en los últimos años”, nos confirma Osvaldo, de forma que, durante esas semanas, el visitante podrá encontrarse desde pinturas y esculturas de varios autores, hasta músicos actuando en directo, escritores leyendo pasajes de sus obras o pequeñas obras de micro teatro.
“No queremos hacer un encuentro artístico al uso, va a ser algo más espontáneo, más libre y bohemio. Un espacio vivo de creación, pero también expositivo y lugar de encuentro a la vez entre artistas y el público”, añade el pintor y escultor argentino, que ya piensa en realizar esta iniciativa cada año.
En esta primera edición, desde finales de junio Osvaldo y Maite comenzarán a preparar la exposición en la galería preparada en su estudio ubicado en el Pasaje San Lorenzo de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. La apertura al público se realizará el viernes 30 de junio desde las 19.00 horas. A partir de entonces, ‘Osvaldo Lobalzo&Friends’ abrirá todos los martes de las siguientes semanas de 11.00 a 14.00 horas y de 17.00 a 20.00.
Segundo año en Fresco Marina y más iniciativas
Además de esta revolucionaria actividad en su estudio, Osvaldo Lobalzo ya prepara la nueva temporada de su galería de arte en Fresco Marina, donde expondrá junto con su hija Maite y algún otro artista invitado durante julio y agosto.
También está ya a la búsqueda de colaboradores para poder lanzar la tercera edición de ‘La Huella’, un taller de pintura que pretende abrir a la participación de centros educativos de todo el municipio de San Roque y a la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Algeciras.
Junto a esto, el artista argentino seguirá acudiendo a su cita de cada domingo de 10.00 a 14.30 horas en el Mercado de Levante y en su tienda de Marbella, en el local 5 del Centro Plaza, los sábados de 10.00 a 14.30 horas. En cualquiera de esas ubicaciones se puede admirar la obra de Lobalzo, adquirir alguna de sus piezas, e intercambiar impresiones con el propio artista, que sigue disfrutando, como siempre, del contacto directo con los aficionados al arte.

Osvaldo Lobalzo & friends, ‘For the Love of Art’
Renowned Argentine painter and sculptor based in Sotogrande will open his studio in Pueblo Nuevo this summer. A multidisciplinary event for the public with a vocation of continuity and freedom of expression for different artists.
There are artists who decide, or even need, to isolate themselves from the world around them, dedicated solely to their own artistic creation without taking anything else into account. Towards the other extreme are those artists who, in addition to developing their work as a result of their own inspiration, also act as promoters and impellers of art, wanting to expand artistic activity wherever it is not regularly found. These true ‘art militants’ are not only dedicated to themselves, but also directly support fellow artists so that they can continue to develop their careers.
We could perfectly fit Osvaldo Lobalzo into this type of ‘artistic activism’. He is a well-known and multifaceted Argentinean artist who has been promoting cultural activity in the areas of Sotogrande for many years now, giving space to numerous artists who have been able to exhibit their work in the area thanks to him.
This summer, the restless duo formed by Osvaldo and his wife Maite, are taking another step forward in their desire to promote artistic activity in many different forms. To this end, they are already preparing ‘Osvaldo Lobalzo & friends’. This is a multidisciplinary gathering that will take place over a month in Osvaldo’s workshop, located in Pueblo Nuevo.
Thus, his own workshop, the real home of an artist, will be open for the exhibition and the meeting of more than 30 creators invited to this event starting on the 30th of June and ending on the 28th of July.
«The aim is to bring together artists from different disciplines who have accompanied us in recent years, in our workshop», explains Osvaldo, so that visitors will be able to experience a wide range of activities during these weeks, including paintings and sculptures by various authors, live performances by musicians, writers reading excerpts from their works and small micro-theatre plays.
“»We are not interested in having a normal artistic gathering, it is going to be something rather more spontaneous, freer, and bohemian. A living space for creation, but also an exhibition space and a meeting place for artists and the public simultaneously», adds the Argentinean painter and sculptor, who is already thinking of carrying out this initiative on an annual basis.
In its first edition, Osvaldo and Maite will begin to prepare the exhibition at the end of June in the gallery located in their studio in the Pasaje San Lorenzo in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. The public opening will take place on Friday the 30th of June from 7pm. From then on, ‘Osvaldo Lobalzo & Friends’ will be open every Tuesday for the next few weeks from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm.
A second year at Fresco Marina and further initiatives
Alongside this revolutionary activity taking place in his studio, Osvaldo Lobalzo is already preparing for the new production season of his art gallery in Fresco Marina. He will be displaying his work together with his daughter Maite and other invited artists during July and August.
Also, he is already in search of collaborators to launch the third edition of ‘La Huella’, a painting workshop intended to encourage the participation of schools from all over the municipality of San Roque and the School of Arts and Crafts of Algeciras.
The Argentinean artist will also continue to attend his Sunday appointments between 10am and 2.30pm at the Mercado de Levante and at his shop in Marbella, in local 5 of the Centro Plaza, on Saturdays between 10am and 2.30pm. Visitors can admire Lobalzo’s work at any of these locations, purchase some of his pieces, and exchange impressions with the artist himself, who continues to enjoy, as always, having direct contact with art lovers.
