El 52º Torneo Internacional de Polo fue un año más uno de los grandes atractivos del verano de Sotogrande, con miles de visitantes en las canchas de Los Pinos y Ayala
Como cada año desde hace ya más de medio siglo, Sotogrande volvió a convertirse en la capital mundial del polo durante este verano con su Torneo Internacional.
Con un plantel de jugadores que reunía a las máximas figuras mundiales de este deporte, y equipos que han destacado en otras competiciones por América y Europa, la 52ª edición del Torneo congregó desde sus primeros partidos a miles de aficionados. Además del espectáculo deportivo, los visitantes también pudieron disfrutar de la zona de ocio y gastronomía ‘Last Chukker’ en las canchas de Los Pinos durante todas las semanas del torneo.
Cotton House (Bajo Hcp), La Maroma (Mediano) y Sainte Mesme (Alto), formaron el cuadro de honor de la Copa de Bronce, mientras que Águilas (Bajo), Almasanta (Mediano) y Park Place (Alto) fueron los campeones de la Copa de Plata, con duelos igualados que, en varias ocasiones, tuvieron que decidirse en el chukker suplementario.
Así ocurrió también en la Copa de Oro, Jeju y Brunei (venciendo en la final a Ayala), se llevaron el triunfo, respectivamente, en el Bajo y Mediano Hándicap. La gran final del Alto, disputada el pasado 26 de agosto, registró la mejor entrada del verano para presenciar el duelo entre dos potencias asiáticas de este deporte, Dubai y MB Polo, que terminó en un nuevo e histórico triunfo para el equipo de Emiratos en Sotogrande por 9-8.

Polo as king of the Sotogrande summer again
The 52nd International Polo Tournament was once again one of the main attractions of the Sotogrande summer, with thousands of spectators visiting the Los Pinos and Ayala fields.
Like every year for more than half a century, Sotogrande was once again the polo capital of the world this summer with its International Tournament.
With a line-up of players that brought together the world’s leading figures in the sport, and teams that have excelled in other competitions in America and Europe, the 52nd edition of the Tournament attracted thousands of fans right away from the start onwards. In addition to the sporting spectacle, visitors were also able to enjoy the ‘Last Chukker’ leisure and gastronomy area on the Los Pinos courts throughout the weeks during the tournament.
Cotton House (Low Hcp), La Maroma (Medium) and Sainte Mesme (High), formed the honour roll of the Bronze Cup, while Águilas (Low), Almasanta (Medium) and Park Place (High) were crowned champions of the Silver Cup, with evenly matched duels that had to be decided in the extra chukker on several occasions.
The same happened in the Gold Cup, with Jeju and Brunei (beating Ayala in the final) winning the Low and Medium Handicap respectively. The Grand Final of the High Handicap, held on the 26th of August, registered the highest attendance of the summer for the duel between two Asian powerhouses of the sport, Dubai, and MB Polo, which ended in a new and historic victory for the Emirates team in Sotogrande with a 9-8 win.
