La INCERTIDUMBRE de la que escribo hace tiempo, no sólo va a menos, sino que se acrecienta. Y ahora, si metemos en una coctelera las informaciones que cada día recibimos, estamos en el caos.
Sólo pretendo poner sobre la mesa los hechos.

Trump es el nuevo presidente de los EEUU, desde el mismo momento en que tomó posesión de su cargo comenzó a hablar y firmar decretos como si no hubiera un mañana, asesorado por sus leales, jóvenes y millonarios, que serán otra cosa, pero no tontos. Aranceles y giro en política exterior son los asuntos que más afectan a Europa. Una Europa que desde que cayó el Muro de Berlín y se desmembró la Unión Soviética se relajó y aceleró su modelo de «estado del bienestar» y en la regulación «buenista» confiando en su superioridad moral, que ya no había peligros bélicos en el horizonte y siempre confiando en el amigo americano.
Pero el resto del mundo, incluyendo los EEUU, no han ido por ese camino, y esto nos ha colocado en una posición poco competitiva; a lo que debemos unir un cierto retraso en tecnología de futuro y desarrollo industrial respecto a los países asiáticos.
Trump, que es sobre todo un hombre de negocios, ha desatado una guerra comercial global de consecuencias imprevisibles. Y al tiempo se ocupa a toda velocidad a terminar, de una manera u otra, las guerras que como suele ocurrir se cronifican. Y lo hace caiga quien caiga. En el fondo es un pacifista radical.
Por otra parte, tenemos a Putin. su vocación y determinación es volver a «la gran madre Rusia». Su modelo es Catalina la Grande, que también era el de Lenin y Stalin. Está encantado con Trump, con el que también hará negocios.
Y ¿que hace Europa? Sin un claro líder europeo, se habla de rearme. Palabra y concepto desaparecidos de Europa desde los años treinta del pasado siglo, Y ahora, deprisa y corriendo a rearmarnos. ¡Como si un ejercito se hiciera en dos días! Si sólo en una fragata, desde que se decide su construcción a su botadura, transcurren al menos siete años… ¡Todo pura incertidumbre!
Yo, de momento, voy a seguir el consejo de una filósofa americana, Bonnie Honig: «finjamos que Trump no existe y sigamos a lo nuestro».

THE CURRENT EVENTS
The UNCERTAINTY of which I have been writing for some time is not diminishing, it is increasing. Now, if we mix all the information we receive every day in a shaker, we are in a state of chaos.
I just want to put the facts on the table.
Trump is the new president of the USA, from the very moment he took office he started talking and signing decrees as if there was no tomorrow, advised by his loyal, young and millionaire staff, who might be other things, but are not fools. Tariffs and foreign policy turnaround are the issues that most affect Europe. A Europe that since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dismemberment of the Soviet Union has relaxed and accelerated its ‘welfare state’ model and ‘do-gooder’ regulations, trusting in its moral superiority that there were no more threats of war on the horizon and always relying on its American friend.
But the rest of the world, including the US, has not gone down that road, and this has placed us in an non-competitive position; to which we must add a certain backwardness in terms of advanced technology and industrial development with respect to Asian countries.
Trump, who is, above all, a businessman, has unleashed a global trade war with unforeseeable consequences. At the same time, he is working at full speed to end, in one way or another, wars that, as is often the case, are becoming chronic. He does so no matter who falls. He is a radical peacemaker at heart.
On the other hand, we find Putin. His vocation and determination is to return to ‘the great mother Russia’. His model is to follow Catherine the Great, who was also Lenin’s and Stalin’s role model. He is delighted with Trump, with whom he will also do business.
And what does Europe do? Without a clear European leader, there is talk of rearmament. A word and concept that has disappeared from Europe since the 1930s, and now, is in a hurry to rearm, as if an army could be built in two days! For a frigate alone, from the time it is ordered to be built to the time it is actually launched, it takes at least seven years! It’s all a matter of uncertainty!
For the moment, I’m going to follow the advice of an American philosopher, Bonnie Honig: ‘let’s pretend Trump doesn’t exist and get on with it’.
