El Ayuntamiento organiza visitas guiadas por escenarios reales en su municipio de las novelas “El Italiano” y “El tiempo entre costuras”
La historia local y la literatura se entrelazan en San Roque con los paseos literarios organizados por la Red Municipal de Bibliotecas ligados a dos libros de enorme éxito: ‘El Italiano’, de Arturo Pérez-Reverte, y ‘El tiempo entre costuras’, de María Dueñas. Ambos relatos, basados en hechos históricos, tienen pasajes que transcurren en enclaves concretos del municipio sanroqueño, sobre los que se organizan estas rutas guiadas y gratuitas.
En Puente Mayorga se ofrece el paseo literario de Villa Carmela, inspirado en ‘El Italiano’, donde se narran las operaciones de espionaje y sabotaje en la zona de militares italianos durante la II Guerra Mundial. Villa Carmela, hoy edificio municipal, fue el centro de estas actividades clandestinas, además de haber sido sede de un templo masónico y llegar a sufrir un bombardeo.
La actividad, conducida por la escritora sanroqueña Mariángeles Chozas (encargada de la investigación histórica junto al coordinador técnico de Bibliotecas, José Antonio Corral), dirige el recorrido por el edificio, donde tres grandes paneles informativos explican la labor de espionaje que se desarrolló en la zona, complementados con otros dos paneles con numerosas fotografías históricas.
Un valor añadido a estos paseos es la aportación del investigador Alfonso Escuadra, quien ha documentado las vivencias de Conchita Peris del Corral, esposa del ingeniero italiano Antonio Ramognino, protagonista real de los hechos en los que se inspira la novela de Pérez-Reverte. En paralelo, en la barriada de Guadarranque se sigue celebrando otro de los paseos literarios más consolidados: ‘El tiempo entre costuras’. Esta ruta, que ya lleva siete años de andadura, recorre los lugares donde vivió Rosalinda Fox, la espía británica que residió varios años en Guadarranque durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y cuya vida inspiró a María Dueñas en su famosa novela, posteriormente adaptada con gran éxito a la televisión.
El paseo, también gratuito pero con plazas limitadas, parte de la rotonda de entrada a Guadarranque y permite a los participantes caminar por las calles donde Rosalinda Fox dejó su huella. La escritora Mariángeles Chozas dirige igualmente esta actividad, acompañando el recorrido con testimonios de vecinos que la conocieron, anécdotas de la época y una exposición de fotografías inéditas. San Roque brings its local history to life with literary walks inspired by two successful novels
The Town Council is organising guided tours through real-life locations in the municipality featured in the novels The Italian and The Time In Between.
Local history and literature intertwine in San Roque through the literary walks organised by the Municipal Library Network, centred around two highly successful novels: ‘The Italian’ by Arturo Pérez-Reverte and ‘The Time In Between’ by María Dueñas. Both stories, based on historical events, include scenes set in specific locations within the municipality of San Roque, which serve as the focus for these free guided tours.
In Puente Mayorga, the “Villa Carmela” literary walk is inspired by The Italian, recounting the espionage and sabotage operations carried out in the area by Italian military personnel during World War II. Villa Carmela, now a municipal building, was at the heart of these clandestine activities. It also served as a Masonic temple and was even subjected to a bombing.
The tour, led by local writer Mariángeles Chozas—who conducted historical research alongside José Antonio Corral, the Library’s technical coordinator—guides visitors through the building, where three large information panels detail the espionage activities that took place in the area, complemented by two additional panels showcasing numerous historical photographs.

Her life inspired María Dueñas’ bestselling novel, which was later successfully adapted for television.
The walk, which is also free of charge but with limited spaces, begins at the entrance roundabout to Guadarranque and allows participants to stroll through the very streets where Rosalinda Fox left her mark. Writer Mariángeles Chozas also leads this tour, enriching it with testimonies from neighbours who knew Fox, period anecdotes, and an exhibition of unpublished photographs.
