Esta competición internacional de polo vuelve a celebrarse en este 2024 con cuatro torneos entre marzo y abril en las canchas de Los Pinos
El Tour de Primavera de Iberian Polo ha vuelto a adelantar unos meses el tradicional espectáculo de este deporte en Sotogrande. Un año más, esta competición internacional ha mostrado su apuesta por desestacionalizar el polo en una de las zonas de mayor historia de esta disciplina deportiva en España, incrementando su oferta en este 2024 con un torneo más que en el año anterior.
La Copa Memorial JI Domecq marcó el inicio del Tour Primavera 2024 desde el 21 de marzo con los primeros partidos de la temporada. Los equipos Cibao La Pampa, No polo no life, AW Jenkinson, PX y Broadsword protagonizaron trepidantes partidos durante los siguientes diez días, hasta que se llegó a la gran final, en la que PX consiguió llevarse el primer triunfo de 2024 en un reñido duelo frente a Cibao La Pampa que se saldó con la mínima diferencia de 7,5 a 7. El MVP de la final fue Roberto Iturrioz, el premio al fair play se adjudicó a Juan Pepa, mientras que el BPP fue ‘Enana’, jugada por Ramón Pepa.
Tras esta primera cita, el Campeonato de España y la Copa Selección Amberes 1920, celebradas del 4 al 7 de abril, añadieron más emoción a esta primavera llena de polo en Sotogrande, con St Mesme y Dragones de Cuera como los equipos más destacados del fin de semana.
Concretamente, St Mesme se llevó el título del Campeonato de España al vencer a Quinto Elemento, quedando AW Jenkinson en el tercer puesto. Al día siguiente, Dragones de Cuera se coronó campeón de la Copa Selección de Amberes 1920 tras un emocionante enfrentamiento precisamente contra St Mesme, que no pudo repetir triunfo en esta final. Luis Domecq fue el MVP de ese partido, con el Fair play para Huan Yan y el Bpp para GT Fatal jugada por Robert Strom.
Tras llegar a su ecuador con estas dos primeras citas, el Tour de Primavera de Iberian Polo continuó su serie de torneos al siguiente fin de semana, del 11 al 14 de abril, con la Copa Baron de Strabrock, cerrando la programación de este 2024 con la Copa Jerez de Polo, del 18 al 21 de abril.

Iberian Polo Tour provides Sotogrande with sport and spectacle this spring
This international polo competition will be held again in 2024 with four tournaments taking place between March and April on the Los Pinos fields.
The Iberian Polo Spring Tour has once again moved the traditional spectacle of this sport in Sotogrande forward by a few months. For yet another year, this international competition has shown its commitment to making polo available off-season in one of the areas with the longest history of this sport in Spain, increasing its offer in 2024 with one more tournament than in the previous year.
The JI Domecq Memorial Cup marked the start of the Spring 2024 Tour on the 21st of March with the first matches of the season. The teams Cibao La Pampa, No polo no life, AW Jenkinson, PX and Broadsword played thrilling matches for the following ten days until the grand final, in which PX managed to take the first win of 2024 in a hard-fought match against Cibao La Pampa. The final ended in a narrow 7.5-7 scoreline. The MVP of the final was Roberto Iturrioz, the fair play award went to Juan Pepa, while the BPP went to ‘Enana’, played by Ramón Pepa.
After this first event, the Spanish Championship and the 1920 Antwerp Selection Cup, held from the 4th to the 7th of April, added more excitement to this spring full of polo in Sotogrande, with St Mesme and Dragones de Cuera as the most outstanding teams of the weekend.
Specifically, St Mesme took the Spanish Championship title by beating Quinto Elemento, leaving AW Jenkinson in third place. The following day, Dragones de Cuera were crowned champions of the 1920 Antwerp Selection Cup after a thrilling clash precisely against St Mesme, who were unable to repeat their triumph in this final. After reaching its halfway point with these first two matches, the Iberian Polo Spring Tour continued its series of tournaments the following weekend, from the 11th to the 14th of April for the Baron de Strabrock Cup, closing the schedule of this 2024 with the Jerez Polo Cup, from the 18th to the 21st of April.
