Operarios de las delegaciones municipales de Playas y Obras y Servicios trabajan en estas semanas para dejar las playas y sus instalaciones públicas en perfectas condiciones de cara a la nueva temporada de verano
Con la temporada de baño a la vuelta de la esquina, el municipio de San Roque se encuentra en pleno proceso de preparación para tener todo a punto de cara a recibir a los visitantes y residentes en sus playas durante los próximos meses.
Con este objetivo, desde el pasado mes de abril, las costas del litoral sanroqueño, están siendo sometidas a un proceso de mejora integral a cargo del personal de la Delegación de Obras y Servicios.
Estos trabajos incluyen la reparación y mantenimiento de las diferentes infraestructuras públicas que cada verano se utilizan en las playas sanroqueñas para dar servicio a los usuarios. Para ello, en los módulos de salvamento y asistencia se están realizando actuaciones de carpintería y pintura, reparaciones en cubiertas, techos y fontanería en los baños, de forma que estén en perfectas condiciones para acoger a los trabajadores del dispositivo de vigilancia y salvamento que estarán en activo durante toda la temporada de playas.
Y es que, un año más, las zonas de litoral de San Roque contarán con todos los servicios públicos habituales para velar por la seguridad y salud de los visitantes y residentes que hagan uso de sus playas. Desde Cala Sardina hasta La Alcaidesa pasando por Torreguadiaro y Sotogrande, cada una de estas playas de la costa mediterránea del municipio, así como las del interior de la Bahía, contarán de nuevo con servicios al ciudadano como módulos de salvamento, aparcamiento público y pasarelas de acceso, zonas de sombra y sillas anfibias adaptadas para personas con problemas de movilidad, entre otros.
El dispositivo de seguridad estival se complementará como cada verano con la contratación de servicios de salvamento y asistencia sanitaria para garantizar que, hasta el mes de septiembre, los bañistas puedan disfrutar de las playas de San Roque con la máxima seguridad y comodidad.
Todo este proceso de mejora y preparación de las infraestructuras públicas en las zonas de costa por parte de Obras y Servicios se suma a los trabajos continuos de mantenimiento de la Delegación de Playas, cuidando de los equipamientos adicionales y la limpieza de la arena durante todo el año, que ahora también se reforzarán con la llegada de los meses de la temporada alta. También se reforzarán otros servicios adicionales como el de vigilancia y recogida de residuos.
Otro año sin duchas ni lavapiés
Por segundo año consecutivo, y ante la situación de extrema sequía que sigue afectando al Campo de Gibraltar, el único servicio que no se dispondrá al público es el de las duchas y lavapiés en las playas, de cara a evitar el confirmado despilfarro de agua que conlleva su funcionamiento.
De hecho, junto al Ayuntamiento de San Roque, todos y cada uno de los municipios con línea de costa de la comarca han vuelto a decretar esta medida en sus playas, siguiendo las recomendaciones y medidas aprobadas en la Mesa de Sequía del Campo de Gibraltar.
Con esta medida necesaria ante la escasez de agua, a pesar de la incomodidad que pueda generar a los bañistas, se ha vuelto a mandar un mensaje general a la ciudadanía de responsabilidad y prudencia a la hora de hacer uso de un recurso tan vital como escaso en la actualidad, recordando la importancia de fomentar un turismo de calidad pero sostenible, que pueda seguir generando actividad económica en la zona pero minimizando su impacto en el medio ambiente.

Our beaches have began preparing for the summer
Operators from the municipal departments of Beaches and Public Works and Services are working these weeks to ensure that the beaches and their public facilities are in perfect condition for the upcoming summer season.
As the swimming season approaches, the municipality of San Roque is in full swing preparing to have everything ready to receive visitors and residents on its beaches over the next few months.
With this objective in mind, the coasts of San Roque’s littoral have been undergoing a process of integral improvement since last April, carried out by the staff of the Department of Public Works and Services.
These projects include the repair and maintenance of the different public infrastructures that are used every summer along the beaches of San Roque to provide users with services. To this end, the lifeguard and assistance units are undergoing carpentry and painting works, repairs to roofs, ceilings and plumbing in the bathrooms, so that they are in perfect condition to house the lifeguard and lifeguard workers who will be on duty throughout the beach season.
For yet another year, the coastal areas of San Roque will be equipped with all the usual public services to ensure the health and safety of visitors and residents who use the beaches. From Cala Sardina to La Alcaidesa via Torreguadiaro and Sotogrande, each of these beaches on the Mediterranean coast of the municipality, as well as those in the interior of the Bay, will once again provide services to the public. These include lifeguard units, public parking and access walkways, shaded areas and adapted amphibious chairs for people with mobility impairments, among others.
The summer safety measures will be complemented, as they are every summer, with the contracting of life-saving and medical assistance services to ensure that, between now and September, beachgoers can enjoy the beaches of San Roque with the maximum safety and comfort.
This whole improvement and preparation process of the public infrastructures in the coastal areas by Public Works and Services comes on top of the continuous maintenance work by the Beaches Delegation. They attend to the additional equipment and the year-round cleaning of the sand, which will now be enhanced with the arrival of the months of the high season. Other additional services such as surveillance and waste collection will also be reinforced.
No showers or footbaths for yet another year
For the second consecutive year, and due to the extreme drought conditions that continue to affect the Campo de Gibraltar, the only service that will not be available to the public is that of showers and footbaths on the beaches. The aim is to avoid the repeated waste of water that their use entails.
In fact, together with the San Roque Town Council, each and every one of the municipalities with a coastline in the region have once again decreed that this measure be applied to their beaches, following the recommendations and measures approved by the Campo de Gibraltar Drought Committee.
Despite the discomfort that this measure, made necessary by the scarcity of water in the area, may cause to beachgoers, it sends a clear message to the public about responsibility and prudence when making use of a resource that is as vital as it is scarce at the present time. It also reminds them of the importance of promoting high-quality yet sustainable tourism, which continues to generate economic activity in the area while minimising its impact on the environment.
