Un año más el patio de las palmeras del San Roque Club fue el escenario de un mercadillo artesanal y de ropa ‘preloved’ con el que recaudar fondos para el nuevo refugio de esta ONG
El pasado domingo 4 de junio, The San Roque Club acogió un nuevo evento solidario en beneficio de SOS Perrera Los Barrios, una ONG que se dedica a la acogida y cuidado de perros abandonados en todo el Campo de Gibraltar mientras les encuentran un nuevo hogar mediante la adopción.
The San Roque Club volvió a mostrar de esta forma su apoyo a la labor de SOS Perrera Los Barrios ofreciendo de nuevo su conocido como ‘Patio de las Palmeras’ para albergar el este mercadillo solidario con ropa “preloved” que ha ido recibiendo la sociedad protectora en diferentes donaciones durante los últimos meses.
De esta forma, durante el mediodía de ese domingo, los asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de comprar prendas, accesorios y otros muy diversos artículos, desde bisutería hasta cosmética natural, gracias también a la colaboración de diferentes artesanos que también quisieron instalar sus stands en el mercadillo. Tampoco faltó la presencia de varios perros que actualmente se encuentran en el refugio de SOS Perrera Los Barrios, uno de los cuales encontró en esa misma jornada una nueva familia que quiso adoptarlo.
Financiación para las nuevas instalaciones de acogida
SOS Perrera Los Barrios sigue inmersa en su nuevo gran proyecto que supone el traslado de sus instalaciones a su nuevo refugio en la finca de las Albutreras de Los Barrios. Este cambio de ubicación era una de las grandes demandas de la ONG, que lleva varios años realizando su actividad en la zona barreña de Ringo Rango, donde tantos problemas han sufrido con las inundaciones cada vez que llegaba un temporal de lluvias al Campo de Gibraltar.
Tras adquirir la nueva parcela en Las Albutreras, los esfuerzos de esta asociación se centran en dotar a ese nuevo refugio de todas las instalaciones necesarias para seguir realizando la actividad que ejercen por todo el Campo de Gibraltar.
Este nuevo destino servirá para garantizar la seguridad tanto de los perros acogidos como de los propios voluntarios y colaboradores de la protectora, que en diferentes inundaciones han llegado situaciones de verdadero riesgo para rescatar a los animales, requiriendo ayuda incluso de los servicios de emergencia.
Por otro lado, el nuevo refugio también aumentará su capacidad de acogida, al contar con nuevas unidades individuales con espacio interior y exterior, terrenos recreativos, cirugía veterinaria y almacenamiento de artículos esenciales para la acogida y atención de los perros que reciben, cuyo número sigue en constante aumento. San Roque Club hosts a charity market fundraiser in aid of Los Barrios SOS Perrera
Once again this year, the palm tree courtyard of the San Roque Club was the setting for a craft and preloved clothes market to raise funds for the NGO’s new shelter.
Sunday the 4th of June, The San Roque Club hosted a new charity event in aid of SOS Perrera Los Barrios, an NGO dedicated to the fostering and care of abandoned dogs throughout the Campo de Gibraltar area while they find new homes for them in the form of adoptions.
Thus, The San Roque Club once again showed its support for the work of SOS Perrera Los Barrios by providing its well-known ‘Patio de las Palmeras’ to host this charity market with preloved clothes that the shelter has been receiving from different donations over the last few months.
During midday on Sunday, attendees had the opportunity to buy clothes, accessories, and other very diverse items, ranging from costume jewellery to natural cosmetics, also through the collaboration of various artisans who wished to set up their stands at the market. Several dogs that are currently in the shelter of SOS Perrera Los Barrios were also present, one of which found a new family who wanted to adopt him on the same day.
Funding for new shelter facilities
SOS Perrera Los Barrios is still immersed in its big new project which involves the relocation of its facilities to its new shelter on the Albutreras estate in Los Barrios. This change of location was one of the great demands of the NGO, which has been carrying out its activity for several years in the area of Ringo Rango. This is where they have experienced numerous flooding problems whenever a rainstorm hits the Campo de Gibraltar.
After acquiring the new plot in Las Albutreras, the association’s efforts are focused on providing this new shelter with all the necessary facilities to continue the activity they carry out throughout the Campo de Gibraltar.
This new location will serve to guarantee the safety of both the dogs and volunteers and collaborators of the shelter, who have had to face real risky situations when rescuing the animals during several floods. Emergency services have also been called in to help.
On the other hand, the new shelter will also increase its sheltering capacity, providing new individual units with indoor and outdoor space, recreational grounds, veterinary surgery facilities and the storage of essential items for the sheltering and care of the dogs they take in, the number of which continues to steadily increase.
