El acuarelista Paco Hernández nos trae en esta edición un bello paisaje costero de Sotogrande fuera de la temporada de verano, evocando en su acuarela otro de los múltiples atractivos que atesora este privilegiado enclave bañado por el Mediterráneo occidental.
La acuarela:
En esta ocasión, Paco aprovecha el color y la luminosidad de una mañana de otoño junto al mar para ofrecernos ese contraste que, en otoño, gracias a las suaves temperaturas que hemos tenido hasta bien entrado el mes de noviembre, podía verse en las playas de Sotogrande y Torreguadiaro. Con visitantes y residentes de la zona disfrutando aún de un paseo por la arena, pero ataviados con los primeros abrigos para combatir el fresco de la mañana.
Impresiones del artista:
“Salgo por la mañana, sobre las ocho y media, y el frío se hace patente. Clavo mi caballete en la arena, agradeciendo el cielo nublado con ese carácter dramático que me levanta la moral pictórica. A cualquier amante de la pintura le gustaría enfrentarse a este paisaje.
Veo gente en la playa y los primeros abrigos del otoño, aunque en unas horas, seguro, sobrará toda prenda de abrigo: dan 25 grados a partir del mediodía. Aun así, sigo soñando con el otoño, aunque sea solo matinal.
¡Qué poco tiempo ha pasado desde aquellos días en que clavaba la sombrilla hasta este momento en que clavo el caballete sin problema de espacio ni sofocante calor!.
Para esta acuarela he utilizado ocres y sienas en la arena, algún violeta apagado para la torre de control del fondo y las sombras de las casas del puerto, y colores agrisados en el cielo con azul cobalto y ocre, para recrear ese ambiente dramático y otoñal”.

Sotogrande in Watercolours: Coats on the Beach
The watercolor artist Paco Hernández brings us in this edition a beautiful coastal landscape of Sotogrande outside the summer season, evoking in his painting yet another of the many charms of this privileged enclave bathed by the western Mediterranean.
The Watercolour:
On this occasion, Paco takes advantage of the colour and brightness of an autumn morning by the sea to offer us that contrast which, in autumn, thanks to the mild temperatures lasting well into November, could be seen on the beaches of Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro. Visitors and local residents still enjoy a stroll along the sand, but wearing the first jackets to combat the morning chill.
Artist’s Impressions:
“I head out in the morning, around half past eight, and the cold is noticeable. I plant my easel in the sand, grateful for the cloudy sky with that dramatic character that lifts my pictorial spirits. Any painting enthusiast would love to face this landscape.
I see people on the beach and the first autumn jackets, although in a few hours, surely, all outerwear will be unnecessary: they’re forecasting 25 degrees from noon. Still, I keep dreaming of autumn, even if only in the morning.
How little time has passed from those days when I planted the parasol to this moment when I set up my easel without worrying about space or stifling heat!
For this watercolor, I used ochres and siennas in the sand, some muted violet for the control tower in the background and the shadows of the harbour houses, and greyed tones in the sky with cobalt blue and ochre, to recreate that dramatic and autumnal atmosphere.”
