Marló: “El color y la improvisación son una constante en mi obra”

Esta artista cordobesa afincada en Torremolinos expone por primera vez en Sotogrande presentando en Fresco Marina una colección de obras abstractas llenas de colorido

María López es cordobesa, polígota (habla cinco idiomas) y una enamorada de la Costa del Sol, donde vive desde hace siete años. Marló es su nombre artístico, con el que ha ido abriéndose camino en la escena cultural andaluza gracias a sus características obras llenas de color y talento.

Como artista autodidacta, su forma de concebir y expresar su arte le ha llevado a lo que ella denomina como ‘Abstractismo Sensorial’. “El color y la improvisación son constantes en mis obras. No suelo pintar nada figurativo. Los colores nos definen y nos condicionan en nuestro día el modo de observar el mundo. Por eso digo que mi arte es sensorial, y fruto de una continua creatividad”. En su evolución, Marló reconoce la influencia “sobre todo de los artistas de la improvisación, como Sobel, Pollock o Klee”.

De hecho, Marló no trabaja nunca con bocetos, ni siquiera cuando crea una obra por encargo. “El cliente nunca sabe lo que le voy a entregar. Por eso el momento de presentarle el cuadro es muy emocionante, aunque antes de que lo vea ya sé cómo va a reaccionar”.

Antes de dedicarse a la pintura, Marló trabajó durante varios años en importantes cadenas hoteleras de Europa en diferentes países. Ya en Málaga, decide cambia de sector pero sin dejar su faceta artística. “Me formé como agente inmobiliaria para trabajar pero nunca dejé de pintar. De hecho hacía también murales y cuadros a mis clientes”.

“Seguí con ambas actividades hasta que fui a decorar unos apartamentos turísticos en Cerdeña. Disfruté tanto con ese trabajo que decidí dedicarme profesionalmente al arte, pero toda esa experiencia laboral previa me ha servido también para llevar mi carrera, y hace tres años abrí mi propio estudio”, nos cuenta Marló.

A partir de ahí, esta artista cordobesa se ha atrevido con todo, desde pintura sobre lienzo,  murales, esculturas, carteles, y hasta complementos de ropa. “He hecho colecciones textiles, con kimonos, corbatas o fulares, que son siempre la prolongación de una obra. Es como vestir una obra de arte exclusiva, con colecciones únicas que nunca se repiten”.

Desde el 15 al 30 de abril, Marló expone en Fresco Marina “siete obras de gran formato que reflejan situaciones cotidianas que vivo a través del color. También hay un cuadro de la próxima colección de kimonos y un rostro, algo poco habitual en mí. Es mi primera vez en Sotogrande y estoy muy ilusionada. Me ha encantado el sitio y encontrarme un perfil de cliente tan internacional”.

This Cordovan artist based in Torremolinos has her first exhibition in Sotogrande, presenting a collection of colourful abstract works in Fresco Marina.

María López is from Cordoba, a polyglot (she speaks five languages) and a Costa del Sol lover, where she has lived for seven years. Marló is her artistic name, with which she has forged her path on the Andalusian cultural scene thanks to her characteristic works full of colour and skill.

As a self-taught artist, her way of conceiving and expressing her art has led her to what she calls ‘Sensorial Abstractism’. “Colour and improvisation are key elements in my work. I don’t usually paint anything figurative. Colours define us and condition us in our day to day way of observing the world. That’s why I say that my art is sensorial, the fruit of continuous creativity”. In his evolution, Marló acknowledges the influence “above all of improvisation artists, such as Sobel, Pollock or Klee”.

In fact, Marló never works with sketches, not even when creating a commissioned work. «The client never knows what I’m going to present them with. That’s why the moment I give them the painting is very exciting, although I already know how they are going to react before they see it».

Before devoting himself to painting, Marló worked for several years in different countries for important European hotel chains. Once in Malaga, she decided to change sector whilst maintaining her artistic approach. «I trained as a real estate agent for work but I never stopped painting. In fact, I also painted murals and canvas for my clients».

«I continued with both activities until I started decorating tourist flats in Sardinia. I enjoyed that job so much that I decided to dedicate myself professionally to art. However, all that previous work experience has also helped me develop my career, and three years ago I opened my own studio», Marló tells us.

Since then, this artist from Cordoba has ventured into everything from painting on canvas, murals, sculptures, posters and even clothing accessories. «I have made textile collections, with kimonos, ties or scarves, which are always an extension of a work of art. It’s like wearing an exclusive work of art, with unique collections that are unique».

From the 15th to the 30th of April, Marló is exhibiting at Fresco Marina «seven large-format works that reflect everyday situations as I experience them through colour. There is also a painting from the next collection of kimonos and a visage, which is unusual for me. It is my first time in Sotogrande and I am very excited. I was delighted with the place and to find such an international client profile».
