El propietario de Dean’s Charter Fishing Holyday detalla a SGplus este incidente que ha sufrido su barco, mientras espera poder retomar su actividad cuanto antes

Dean Hoile lleva más de quince años en la Costa del Sol dedicándose a ofrecer experiencias de pesca deportiva y salidas de ocio a turistas y clientes locales.
Desde el pasado diciembre, con su inseparable compañero canino Rusty, trasladó su barco y su negocio a Sotogrande, ubicándose en el atraque 121 de su puerto deportivo. Allí fue donde en la mañana de este miércoles se encontró con la peor noticia que puede recibir un patrón de barco, ver su embarcación hundida amarrada a su atraque.

“Cuando recibí el aviso por la mañana no me lo podía creer. Había dejado el barco la tarde anterior tras comprobar todo como siempre, y no había ningún problema”, nos comenta un consternado Dean, que aún está a la espera de conocer la causa de este incidente.

El barco ya ha sido retirado por los operarios del puerto y se encuentra en dique seco a la espera de las reparaciones necesarias. Mientras tanto, Dean se lamenta de su mala suerte en estos últimos meses.

“Llegué el pasado diciembre a Sotogrande con mucha ilusión por su fama de ser una de las mejores marinas de la Costa del Sol, pero días después mi barco se vio afectado por el intenso humo del incendio del yate en el varadero del día 16. Aquello requirió mucho trabajo de limpieza y pulido para que volviera a lucir como siempre, pero lo que me ha ocurrido esta semana es un auténtico desastre”, nos comenta Dean, cuyo medio de vida como patrón de pesca deportiva se va a ver truncado mientras su barco no esté operativo.

“Para alguien como yo, tu barco es tu vida, es como una parte más de ti mismo”, comenta muy emocionado Dean, que en las últimas horas está recibiendo infinidad de mensajes de apoyo por redes sociales y en su teléfono. Familiares, amigos y clientes de cada lugar en los que ha trabajado en la Costa del Sol, y otros desde el Reino Unido, que le han mostrado su solidaridad y se ofrecen a apoyarle en lo que necesite.

Acompañado de su fiel Rusty mientras atiende a SGplus, Dean nos confirma que a pesar de este severo contratiempo Deans Charter Fishing Holyday volverá en cuanto le sea posible, haciéndose a la mar para hacer disfrutar a los visitantes y residentes de la experiencia de la pesca deportiva en el Mediteráneo.

Tourism company’s boat sinks in Sotogrande Marina

The owner of Dean’s Charter Fishing Holiday details the incident to SGplus while awaiting the chance to resume operations as soon as possible

Dean Hoile has been offering sport fishing experiences and leisure trips to tourists and local clients on the Costa del Sol for over fifteen years. Since last December, accompanied by his inseparable canine companion, Rusty, he relocated his boat and business to Sotogrande, docking at berth 121 in the marina. However, this Wednesday morning, he was met with the worst possible news for a boat captain, his vessel had sunk while moored at its berth.

«When I received the call in the morning, I couldn’t believe it. I had left the boat the night before after checking everything as usual, and there were no issues,» says a distraught Dean, who is still waiting to find out the cause of the incident.

The boat has already been removed by marina workers and is now in dry dock, awaiting the necessary repairs. In the meantime, Dean laments his streak of bad luck in recent months.

«I arrived in Sotogrande last December, excited about its reputation as one of the best marinas on the Costa del Sol, but just days later, my boat was affected by the intense smoke from the yacht fire at the boatyard on the 16th. It took a lot of cleaning and polishing to restore it to its former state, but what happened this week is a complete disaster,» says Dean, whose livelihood as a sport fishing captain is now on hold until his boat is operational again.

«For someone like me, your boat is your life—it’s like an extension of yourself,» says an emotional Dean, who has been overwhelmed by an outpouring of support on social media and through personal messages. Friends, family, and clients from across the Costa del Sol, as well as from the UK, have reached out to show their solidarity and support.

Accompanied by his loyal Rusty while speaking to SGplus, Dean confirms that despite this major setback, Deans Charter Fishing Holiday will return as soon as possible, setting sail once again to offer visitors and residents the thrill of sport fishing in the Mediterranean.
