Vaya por delante, querido lector, que esto no es más que una opinión, reflexión o como quiera usted calificarlo de un informador de las ondas. No hay más pretensiones más allá de las cosas que vemos por nuestro trabajo. Ese que muchas veces se vilipendia y otras se ensalza hasta límites insospechados.

Ni una cosa ni la otra, como en todos los gremios hay de todos, y los que nos dedicamos a estos no somos ni una cuarta parte de importantes que, por citar un ejemplo que hay muchos más, un médico o un conductor de autocar. Simplemente estamos en los sitios en los que se deciden las cosas por nuestra vocación, profesión y eso sí, al menos en mi caso y me consta que de muchos compañeros más, por la pasión que supone esto de contar cosas.

Aclarado el preámbulo voy a ejercer, en primera instancia, de abogado del diablo. Estamos, será la edad, en una sociedad en la que nos hemos (han) acostumbrado a que nos solventen todos los problemas y de lo contrario siempre es culpa del partido político que no es el que me gusta, del alcalde de turno, o de los pájaros de colores.

En política, como en diferentes ámbitos como escribía antes, hay de todo. Pero también entiendo que el ciudadano tiene una responsabilidad.

Resumiendo mucho, el presidente del gobierno, el de la Junta, el alcalde o cualquier cargo político debe gestionar con honradez y en base a sus ideas. Luego está la responsabilidad ciudadana.

Por citar un caso absurdo, entiendo que nadie del PSOE, PP, VOX, IU etc… tiene culpa de que tiremos una colilla al suelo, no seamos cívicos con los excrementos de las mascotas o ni siquiera nos preocupemos de lo que ocurre en los plenos municipales, que luego nos afectan en el día a día.

También hay controversias e incoherencias. Buena muestra es la solidaridad que mostramos en momentos complicados y hay cientos de ejemplos. La misma sociedad que tiene una doble vara de medir que tenemos con el que no es de los nuestros.

En eso le hacemos el juego a los políticos. Sálvese quién pueda. Uno que es futbolero, lleva años diciendo que esto del día a día es más serio que un Algeciras-Balona, un Barca-Madrid o un Sevilla-Betis, pero la percepción, quizás equivocada, es que en muchos sectores se toma así.

La gente

Y luego está el discurso de las noches electorales, da igual el contexto y el ámbito. A muchos se les llena la palabra de democracia, pero cuando se abren las urnas, la expresión más democrática posible, hay argumentos que provocan risa, sino fuese un tema tan serio. Y en muchas ocasiones, los que más presumen de demócratas, son los que menos respetan el veredicto.

Hay partidos que se atribuyen la representación de la gente con un concejal o un diputado y que insisten en seguir luchando no se sabe bien con que objetivo. Me dirán eso es política, pues vale.

El que queda segundo suele alertar de lo que viene y además vota todo en contra indicando que, otro ejemplo, el presupuesto no lo apruebo porque no es lo que necesita la ciudad de turno. Oiga, la ciudad ha votado y ha decidido. Respeten ustedes, señores políticos, los resultados DEMOCRÁTICOS, les guste o no.

Claro que si nosotros tampoco nos respetamos con nuestros derechos y obligaciones….

Perdón por la chapa, pero como decía al inicio es sólo la opinión de uno que se dedica a informar e intentar aportar algo desde su trabajo.

The Citizen, Duties, Democracy and the People

Let me start, dear reader, by saying that this is nothing more than an opinion, a reflection, or however you wish to call it from a broadcaster. There are no pretensions beyond the things we observe in our work, a job that is often vilified and at other times praised to unimaginable limits.

Neither one nor the other; as in all professions, there are all kinds of people, and those of us in this line of work are not even a quarter as important as, to cite one example among many, a doctor or a bus driver. We are simply in the places where decisions are made because of our vocation, our profession and, at least in my case, and I know many colleagues feel the same, because of the passion that comes with telling stories.

With the preamble clarified, I will first play devil’s advocate. Perhaps it is age, but we live in a society where we have become accustomed to having all our problems solved for us. If not, it is always the fault of the political party we don’t like, the mayor in office, or even the birds of paradise.

In politics, as in many other areas, there is everything. But I also understand that citizens have a responsibility.

To summarise, the Prime Minister, the regional president, the mayor, or any political official must manage with integrity and according to their principles. Then comes citizen responsibility.

To give an absurd example, I understand that no member of the PSOE, PP, VOX, IU, etc., is to blame when we drop a cigarette butt on the ground, fail to be civic about pet waste, or don’t even pay attention to what happens in municipal councils, which then affect our daily lives.

There are also controversies and inconsistencies. A good example is the solidarity we show in difficult times, and there are hundreds of examples. The same society that shows solidarity also has a double standard for those who are not “one of ours.”

In that, we play into the politicians’ hands. Every man for himself. I am a football fan, and for years I have said that daily life is more serious than an Algeciras Balona, Barça Real Madrid, or Sevilla Betis match, yet the perception, perhaps mistaken, is that in many sectors it is taken just like that.

The People

Then there is the rhetoric on election nights, no matter the context or level. Many fill their mouths with the word democracy, but when the ballot boxes are opened, the most democratic expression possible, there are arguments that provoke laughter, if it were not such a serious matter. And often, those who boast most about being democrats are the ones who least respect the verdict.

There are parties that claim to represent the people with one councillor or MP and insist on continuing the fight without any clear objective. You might say, “That’s politics,” and I’ll accept that.

The runner-up often warns about what’s coming and votes against everything, saying, for example, “I don’t approve this budget because it’s not what this city needs.” But the city has voted and made its decision. Respect the DEMOCRATIC results, politicians, whether you like it or not.

Of course, if we ourselves don’t respect our rights and obligations…

Sorry for the long rant, but as I said at the beginning, this is just the opinion of someone who reports the news and tries to contribute something through their work.
