Ya llego el verano, ya llegó… ¡el momento de poder disfrutar! Quien pueda, claro. Para otros el verano siempre ha sido sinónimo de mucha carga laboral… ¡el mío este año aúna ambos conceptos!

En Sotogrande tenemos la suerte de poder parar el tiempo como decía la canción de Demarco Flamenco. Conciertos, gastronomía, ocio, diversión y tiempo en familia. Nuestro WhatsApp suena y es un plan irrechazable: un desayuno frente al mediterráneo, un concierto único o, simplemente, una quedada con tus amigos de siempre… momentos únicos que se quedarán en nuestra retina hasta el próximo verano como recuerdos de tardes de verano inigualables.
Todo eso es la suma de una experiencia única que podemos disfrutar 365 días al año en nuestra zona. Muchos tenemos la inmensa suerte de poder disfrutarlo intensamente desde nuestro nacimiento… ¡y cuanto más tiempo pasamos fuera de este paraíso, más ganas tenemos de volver!
Hablar de Sotogrande es hablar también de deporte y, en verano, con más hincapié aun en los deportes náuticos y el polo. Ayala Polo Club y Santa Maria Polo Club se convierten en el epicentro mundial de la bocha. Copa de Bronce, Plata y la gran copa de Oro ponen ese broche que encumbra a nuestro municipio como el mejor enclave europeo para la práctica de este deporte.
Pero este mes de agosto no es sólo un mes de agosto al uso, es el inicio de una nueva ilusión deportiva que se va a celebrar en nuestro municipio allá por el mes de Octubre. El Estrella Damm NA ha fijado su sede de este 2023 en uno de los recorridos más emblemáticos y singulares de todo el panorama internacional. El Real Club Sotogrande será el escenario elegido para que los mejores jugadores del DP World Tour. Muchos de ellos como Matt Fitzpatrick, Adrián Otaegui o Pablo Larrazábal conocen a la perfección este recorrido precursor del golf en Andalucía merced a las innumerables participaciones en las extintas Copa Jerez hoy denominada Copa Sotogrande. El equipo del RCG Sotogrande ya trabaja para presentar en menos de dos meses un recorrido excelso y exigente que no dejará a nadie indiferente. ¡Equipazo!
Habrá que esperar pero las fechas de celebración de este torneo atisban alguna sorpresa en el field de jugadores… ¿vendrá a disputar este EDAM Masters en el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande Jon Rahm? Todo puede pasar… ¿Qué jugador os haría especial ilusión ver en el tee del hoyo 1 del RCG Sotogrande en Octubre? Yo tengo el mio que este año cumple 50 años como profesional de golf y conoce cada rincón de este recorrido al mínimo detalle…
Mientras tanto, es momento de seguir disfrutando de nuestro verano y volver a soñar despiertos. El mejor destino está en nuestro municipio y nosotros somos afortunados de poder disfrutarlo 365 días al año… ¿o no?

Summer Vibes!
Summer is here, the time to enjoy it is here… now! For those who can, of course. For others summer has always been synonymous with a heavy workload… mine this year combines both notions!
In Sotogrande we are lucky enough to be able to stop time, as Demarco Flamenco used to say. Concerts, gastronomy, leisure, fun and family time. Our WhatsApp buzzes and it’s an irresistible plan: a breakfast in front of the Mediterranean, a unique concert or, simply, a get-together with your best friends… unique moments that will stay in our minds until the next summer as memories of unforgettable evenings.
It all adds up to a unique experience that can be enjoyed 365 days a year in our region. Many of us are lucky enough to have been able to enjoy it intensely from birth… and the more time we spend away from this paradise, the more we want to come back!
To talk about Sotogrande is also to talk about sports and, in summer, all the more so when it comes to water sports and polo. Ayala Polo Club and Santa Maria Polo Club become the world epicentre of polo. Bronze Cup, Silver Cup and the grand Gold Cup are the crowning glory of our region being the best European venue for the practice of this sport.
However, this August is not just a typical August, it is the beginning of a new sporting dream that will be celebrated in October in our area. The Estrella Damm NA has set its headquarters for 2023 in one of the most emblematic and unique courses on the international scene. The Real Club Sotogrande will be the chosen venue to host the best players for the DP World Tour. Many of them, such as Matt Fitzpatrick, Adrián Otaegui and Pablo Larrazábal, are perfectly familiar with this course, which is the forerunner of golf in Andalusia, thanks to their countless participations in the defunct Jerez Cup, now known as the Sotogrande Cup. The RCG Sotogrande team is already working to present an excellent and demanding layout in less than two months’ time, one that will leave no one unimpressed. What a crew!
We’ll have to wait, but the tournament’s dates suggest some surprises in the field of players … Will Jon Rahm come to play this EDAM Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande? Anything can happen… Which player would you be especially excited to see on the 1st tee of the RCG Sotogrande in October? Mine will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his professional golf career this year and he knows each and every nook and cranny of the course down to the smallest of details…
In the meantime, it’s now time to continue enjoying our summer and start daydreaming yet again. We have the best destinations in our region, and we are fortunate to be able to enjoy them 365 days a year… right?
