Las procesiones, que se remontan a la pérdida de la Plaza de Gibraltar en 1704, son un símbolo de resistencia y esperanza para los sanroqueños.
Durante la Semana de Pasión, San Roque se transforma en un escenario de fervor religioso y emoción compartida. Miles de personas se unen a las nueve Hermandades y Cofradías de la ciudad para participar en las procesiones que recorren el Conjunto Monumental Histórico-Artístico de San Roque declarado
en 1975. Un entorno único en el que los pasos lucen con todo su esplendor.
El cartel de Semana Santa de San Roque 2024, creado por el artista sevillano Antonio Díaz Arnido, es un testimonio de la belleza de esta celebración. Inspirado en la Venerable Cofradía del Santo Entierro y Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, captura la esencia misma de la Semana Santa de San Roque.
Pero la Semana Santa en San Roque es más que una expresión religiosa; es también un tributo al arte y la historia de la región. Las imágenes traídas de Gibraltar, como el Cristo de la Humildad y Paciencia, el Nazareno y el Santo Entierro, son verdaderas joyas del patrimonio cultural de San Roque. Estas venerables figuras, junto con las creaciones más recientes, como el Cristo de la Buena Muerte de Luis Ortega Bru, dan forma a una Semana Santa que combina lo antiguo y lo nuevo de una forma única.
La Pasión de San Roque se empezará a vivir el Viernes de Dolores con el Vía Crucis Oficial del Consejo Local de Hermandades y Cofradías. Ya la mañana del Domingo de Ramos saldrá desde la Capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Visitación la Bendición y Solemne Procesión de Palmas y Olivos y la Procesión Juvenil de La Borriquita.
El Lunes Santo, sanroqueños y visitantes, podrán ver a la Venerable Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Humildad y Paciencia y Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, que saldrá desde la Ermita de San Roque. La noche del martes, los costaleros de la Venerable Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Humildad y Paciencia y Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, lucirán sus pasos por las calles sanroqueñas.
El Miércoles Santo, serán tres los pasos que se podrán disfrutar: Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, Jesús Cautivo y Rescatado “Medinaceli” y Nuestra Señora de la Merced y el Cristo de la Vera Cruz en el Calvario. El Santísimo Cristo de la Buena Muerte, acompañado de María Santísima de la Amargura saldrán el Jueves Santo por la mañana, y por la noche tendrá lugar la procesión del Santo Encuentro por parte de la Venerable Hermandad de Penitencia de Nuestro Padre Jesús
Nazareno y María Santísima de los Dolores.
El Viernes Santo, es quizá el día más esperado tanto por los más devotos como por los que simplemente disfrutan de esta experiencia cultural: la Procesión Magna del Santo Entierro. Una demostración impresionante de fe y tradición, con la Plaza de la Iglesia como telón de fondo.
Por último, la mañana del Domingo de Resurreción saldrá desde la parroquia Santa María la Coronada Nuestro Señor Jesucristo Resucitado. El cúlmen de una semana de pasión en la que San Roque vibrará al son de cornetas y tambores.

Between the 14th and 18th centuries, religious images from Gibraltar have borne witness to the rich history of San Roque. This town, which was founded upon a long-suffering procession just like Christ carrying his Cross, finds in Easter Week a reflection of its own identity and exile. The processions, which date back to the loss of Gibraltar in 1704, are a symbol of resistance and hope for the people of San Roque.
During Passion Week, San Roque is transformed into a scene of religious fervour and shared emotion. Thousands of people join the nine Brotherhoods and Guilds of the city to take part in the processions that travel through the Historical and Artistic Monumental Site of San Roque as declared in 1975. A unique setting in which processions shine in all their splendour.

However, Easter Week in San Roque is more than a religious expression; it is also a tribute to the art and history of the region. The icons brought from Gibraltar, such as the Cristo de la Humildad y Paciencia, the Nazareno and the Santo Entierro, are true jewels of San Roque’s cultural heritage. These venerable figures, together with more recent creations, such as the Christ of the Good Death by Luis Ortega Bru, give shape to an Easter Week that combines the old and the new in a unique way.
The Passion of San Roque begins with the Official Stations of the Cross of the Local Council of Brotherhoods and Guilds on the Friday of Sorrows. On Palm Sunday morning, the Blessing and Solemn Procession of Palms and Olive Trees and the Youth Procession of La Borriquita will set off from the Chapel of Our Lady of Visitation.
On Easter Monday, locals and visitors to San Roque will be able to see the Venerable Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Humility and Patience and Our Lady of Hope, which will depart from the San Roque Chapel. On Tuesday night, the bearers of the Venerable Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Humility and Patience and Our Lady of Hope, will show off their floats through the streets of San Roque.
On Holy Wednesday, three floats will be on display: Our Lady of Anguish, Jesus Captive and Rescued “Medinaceli” and Our Lady of Mercy and the Christ of the True Cross on Calvary.
On Holy Thursday morning, the Santísimo Cristo de la Buena Muerte, accompanied by María Santísima de la Amargura will depart for the procession of the Holy Meeting by the Venerable Brotherhood of Penitence of Our Father Jesús Nazareno and María Santísima de los Dolores. During the evening, a procession of the Santo Encuentro will be carried out.
Good Friday is perhaps the most eagerly awaited day both by the most devout and by those who simply enjoy this cultural experience: the Magna Procession

Our Lord Jesus Christ Resurrected will depart from the parish church of Santa María la Coronada. The culmination of a week of intense passion in which San Roque will beat to the sound of bugles and drums.
